The Peace Space

Welcome
Welcome to The Peace Space.

I’m Annie, a humanistic counsellor offering a calm, confidential space where you can talk openly and be met with warmth, respect, and understanding.

If you’ve never been to counselling before, you might not be sure what to expect. My role is not to judge, analyse, or tell you what to do, but to offer a supportive relationship where you can speak freely and feel heard. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear reason for coming—just a willingness to talk.

My approach is gentle and led by you. Sessions move at your pace and focus on what feels most important in your life. Together, we create space to slow down, reflect, and explore your thoughts, feelings, or experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable.

Humanistic counselling is based on the belief that people naturally move towards growth and change when they are met with understanding and acceptance. I work alongside you, offering empathy and a steady presence, supporting you to reconnect with yourself and find greater clarity and peace over time.

This is a space where you do not need to be fixed or judged—just supported.

Is Humanistic Counselling Right for Me?
Humanistic counselling may be right for you if you’re looking for a space where you can talk openly and feel accepted as you are. It focuses on your own experiences, thoughts, and feelings, rather than labels, diagnoses, or being told what to do.

This is a client-led approach, meaning your experiences and priorities guide our work together. While you set the direction, my role is not passive. I will listen closely, reflect with you, and gently challenge patterns or beliefs where it feels helpful, always with care and respect. Together, we can explore new perspectives at a pace that feels right for you

You don’t need to be in crisis or have a clear goal to benefit from counselling. Many people come simply because something feels difficult, confusing, or heavy, or because they want space to reflect and reconnect with themselves.

It’s common to feel unsure about why you’re coming, or to struggle to put things into words. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, low, anxious, or disconnected, or you might just have a sense that you need space to talk. Whatever brings you, you don’t need to explain or justify it. We can begin wherever you are and gently explore what feels present for you. Counselling offers time and space to make sense of your experiences in a supportive, non-judgemental environment.
What to Expect in the First Session
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin to see whether counselling feels like a good fit for you. There is no pressure to share everything or to know exactly what to say.

We’ll talk through practical details such as confidentiality, boundaries, and how sessions work. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable about what has brought you to counselling.

Some people arrive with a clear reason, while others don’t—both are completely okay.

My role is to offer a calm, supportive presence and to work alongside you, so you can begin counselling in a way that feels safe, manageable, and led by you.

Next steps
If you’re considering counselling, the next step is simply to make contact. I offer a free 20-minute call or online consultation, which gives you a chance to ask any questions, get a sense of how I work, and see whether it feels right for you. There is no obligation to continue — it’s an opportunity to explore whether counselling with me feels like a good fit.
Who may benefit from working with me?
I offer counselling to a diverse range of clients, including:

Neurodivergent Clients
Being neurodivergent myself, I offer an understanding, affirming, and flexible approach. Sessions are adapted to your pace, sensory needs, and communication style, providing a calm and structured space to explore whatever feels important to you.

Adults Navigating Anxiety, Life Transitions, Grief, and Loss
I support adults who are experiencing anxiety, major life changes, relationship or career shifts, difficulties within family relationships, bereavement, and other forms of loss. This might include challenges such as setting boundaries with family members, navigating conflict or estrangement, caring responsibilities, or the lasting impact of family experiences from earlier in life.

Young People
I am trained and qualified to work with young people, offering a safe, age-appropriate space to explore emotions, anxiety, relationships, identity, and life challenges. This includes support for young people who may be struggling with school-based anxiety, such as worries around attendance, performance, exams, friendships, or pressure to cope.

Online

I offer online sessions for clients who prefer to work from their own space or who are not local. Online counselling can offer greater flexibility while still supporting a meaningful therapeutic connection. Sessions are held via a secure platform, and we will take time to ensure this way of working feels comfortable, supportive, and right for you. £55 for 60 Minutes

Face to Face

I offer face-to-face counselling in a private, dedicated room within my home. This space is quiet, calm, and confidential, designed to feel safe and contained. Many clients find that meeting in a consistent physical space supports grounding and focus. £55 for 60 Minutes

Outdoor Counselling & Equine Assisted Therapy

For those who feel drawn to working outdoors, I offer counselling from my land. Sessions may take place, seated outdoors or in a private converted horse box that offers comfort and shelter while remaining connected to the natural environment. The land is home to my herd of horses, whose presence can feel grounding and supportive. £55 for 60 Minutes I also offer Equine Assisted Therapy for clients who wish to work more directly with the horses; this is a separate approach and is always discussed in advance.
